More about us
We started as a nonprofit in 2018 and as of 2023, we have helped more than 3 million people find hope, strength and peace against cancer.
We primarily help people find hope digitally, though we also offer some resources in printed formats for individuals, cancer centers, support groups and churches. Currently, our 10 Tips for Facing Your Next Cancer Scan is distributed in nearly a dozen health facilities.
Our leadership and board
Chris Lawrence is the founder and executive director of Hope Has Arrived. You can read more about the experience that inspired Hope Has Arrived in Our Story.
We are guided by an advisory board made up of survivors, caregivers and a cancer chaplain. We also have a small support staff that helps run our day-to-day operations (bios coming soon).
No member of our team receives any compensation or benefits whatsoever from this organization; we rely exclusively on volunteers (including the executive director). The joy of helping you find hope is our greatest and only reward.
Video transcript:
Chris Lawrence, founder of Hope Has Arrived:
“As I faced cancer, the one thing I discovered very quickly was how important hope is. And honestly, before I had cancer, hope is not something I ever really thought much about. It just seemed like something associated with charities and other things.
But when your life is threatened and you’re in the pit, you realize just how vital hope is. And for me, I found, that it was the key to facing cancer.
That’s what I want for other people facing cancer: to find hope—to find hope like I have—and how many other survivors who have gone through cancer, how they found it, too. And so that’s why we started Hope Has Arrived.”
Emphasis on spiritual hope
Hope Has Arrived comes from a Christian perspective but we but seek to help all people find hope.
We help people find hope through stories, practical resources and also through prayer. We want all people to find hope, including medical hope, to make sure they are getting the best medical care possible. We also want people to find spiritual hope, which is not just for this life, but also for the life to come.
We believe that all people have the opportunity to experience this hope through a personal relationship with Jesus—the one called the Living Hope. For more info, visit Knowing God Personally
Why this emphasis?
We seek to meet a critical need in the cancer community, as many fighters, and their caregivers and family, are looking for spiritual hope.
A recent survey by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention indicated that 69% of cancer survivors pray regularly about their health. Another survey among women with cancer revealed that 93% of them said that their faith helped them experience hope.
Indeed, spiritual hope is a proven and timeless source.
Sometimes, people simply don’t know how to pray or connect with God. At Hope Has Arrived, we want to help people bridge that gap. For more info, see our Finding God section.
